Easy Homemade Christmas Gift Idea

by Heather on November 24, 2009

This is a really simple, but really cute Christmas gift idea.  In fact it’s what I plan on doing for some of the people on my list this year.  I always like to give something to say thank you to the people that are involved in my children’s lives.  These would include teachers, classroom assistants, youth workers, coaches, you know the list.  You want to give them something, but you can’t afford to go overboard.

AND the great part is that because it’s so easy, the kids can help with it.

I’m talking about cookies in a jar.  They are very easy to do, and are quite cost effective.

This is an example of M&M Cookies in a jar, but you can really use any of your favorite recipes.

cookies in a jar The secret is in the layering.  You want to layer to provide the most contrast with all of the dry ingredients.  Then you write out the recipe, telling what kind of wet ingredients are need.  Put a festive lid on the top, and you are done.

The kids can help measuring and pouring the ingredients with some supervision.  I really enjoy giving handmade gifts to people on my list, and I really enjoy recieving them as well.

Merry Christmas,

Heather
